Dear Friend,

For years, we’ve heard breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We know it’s important for us to drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. I know these things….but I’m guilty of not doing them. Every morning I rush through my routine and don’t eat breakfast. I throw a small container of yogurt and granola in my purse and promise myself I’ll eat it as soon as I get to work. My empty 32oz. insulated water cup is a permanent fixture on my office desk. Around 11:00 a.m. each week day, my stomach starts to growl. My throat feels dry. The fast pace and enthusiasm I was once working with gives way to a nagging headache. Neglected, my yogurt and granola remain tucked away in my purse. My water cup is still empty. Instead of taking a few minutes at the beginning of my day to eat and drink water, I immediately started working. Because I didn’t take the time to eat, I feel the physical effects of being hungry and thirsty.

Friend, when we neglect to water and feed our soul, we suffer the same side effects as not eating and drinking properly in the natural. Every day we face warfare, trials, battles, test, and life. If we aren’t properly fed, we will not have the strength to stand firm and fight with the correct weapons. My soul starves and suffers dehydration when I’m not praying and studying the word the way I should. Feed and water your soul daily. Throughout the day, take in the word. If you aren’t able to take in a lot, do what you can. Listen to the word on your commute. Read a scripture on your phone. Acknowledge God’s presence in all you do. Pray. God still hears a simple “Thank you Jesus” or “I need your help Lord.” Stay thirsty and hungry for God. Feed your soul.
