His Plan is Better
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
Dear Friend,
Over the last few weeks, I’ve had ample time to do self introspection and evaluate my friendships and relationships. I’ve posed questions to myself such as “Why am I involved with this particular group?” “How can I be a better friend?” “Is this activity the best use of my time?” and “Is this God’s best for me?” After asking myself the questions, and honestly answering them, I realized I was pursuing some things that weren’t God’s best for me.
How do we know when something is not right for us? There is no one way to answer this question. If something does not line up with our personal and spiritual values, we know it is likely not for us. It is possible, you could be the person sent to be the change and positive influence in the situation. In this case, you MUST pray and hear from God BEFORE you proceed. A lack of peace concerning something often indicates it is not for me. I’m not in the business of cutting off people and I don’t subscribe to the “No new friends” theory. I do subscribe to God’s plan for my life in every area. I want what he wants for me. I have entered relationships, friendships, and participated in activities I wanted to be involved with. After heartbreak, betrayal, and drama, I realized I never consulted God to see if it was a part of his plan for me.
Friend, His path and His plans are far better than our own. His plan requires us to seek Him and ask for His wisdom daily. Take the time to ask Him is this His plan for you before you commit your time to something. It may not be His plan for you. Ask Him is this a healthy friendship for me to have? Seek His guidance as to whether this particular person is who you should be with dating or be in business with. Is this who we should seek out as a mentor? Wrong associations can lead us into negative spaces and often get us off the path God has for us. His plan is far better than anything we can imagine. Trust Him. Our tomorrow with Him is better than our yesterday.
Trusting His Plan,
Tracye M.
