Pray for Me

Good Morning Ladies (and few gents),

GiG, I want to thank those of you who pray for me. A lot is happening in my life, the life of my family, and in the lives of those in my circle of influence. God is expanding my borders of influence and outreach far beyond what I could have imagined as a therapist, group counselor, mentor, and unashamed women of God. Thank you, thank you, thank you. When weariness sets in, I know that many are interceding on my behalf, and so I get up, get moving, and get things done.

Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.Psalm 55:22 NLT

Jesus wants us to cast our cares on him, but often we continue to bear them ourselves even when we say we are trusting in him. We must trust the same strength that sustains us to carry our cares also.

The verse cited above reminds me of a situation I found myself in, in 2018. My family and I decided that I would leave school counseling and pursue clinical counseling since trying to do both was getting me nowhere. It seemed like every door from late 2015 to early 2018 was closed to me and opportunities to land a therapist or agency willing to take me under their wing for supervision was nowhere to be found. Furthermore, my classmates were landing spots even though they too were working in their current jobs with limited availability. I had given this burden to the Lord back in 2015, but what I had not done was share this burden with others. Oh, I mentioned it every once in a while in passing if someone asked, but I had not been purposeful in asking others to pray with me and/or for me about it. However, I finally did share with the Saturday GiG.

Ironically, nine months after leaving my school counseling position—fully rested, rejuvenated I’m introduced to Dr. Ron Rowe and birthed was a new friendship, new ministry opportunity, a new contact and a new position as a clinical counseling associate. And as the late radio personality Paul Harvey would say, “And the rest of the story.” Came one opportunity after another, additional training, clients from all walks of life, many whom are believers, but all seeking relief for life hurts, habits, and hang ups which God had graciously prepared and positioned me for unbeknownst to me.

GiG, let’s not hesitate to take our problems to Jesus first and foremost and then to the prayer warriors in our circle of influence. Regardless of whether the problem is large or small, take it to Jesus and then to your inner circle of warriors. Truth is, an unprayed for problem is an embedded thorn—go to the person with the tweezers—Jesus (Max Lucado). And might I add, a scarcely prayed for problem leaves the embedded thorns securely in place and to no fault of Jesus.

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 NLT

God’s Got It… so we can know the TRUTH—Counting blessings rather than problems leads to greater contentment.

Called to serve and encouraging others to thrive,
