I need you to repeat after me, and you may have to say this over and over again. I.....Don't....Complete....Me!
.....because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will continue to perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:5-6
There is so much power in this one scripture.
1. When you are confident, you are certain it will happen! Be certain that GOD will complete you!
2. He (God) not me, that has started a (good) work, He is the one who created me and gave me life. He foreknew me in my mothers womb, He chose me (Jeremiah 1:5, Job 33:4, and Galatians 1:15-16). I don't have to complete me!
3. I am pleasing and acceptable in His sight (1 John 3:22)
4. He will continue to perfect it (get it right) until Jesus comes, so my completeness doesn't happen until Jesus comes!
Whew Chile!!! I don't know about you, but that took the pressure off of me! How many ways have I tried to complete me? For me one was trying to find my success in school. Can I share something with you. I remember, when I thought I needed another degree to complete me, I was gauging my success, by man's standards. It was never enough, and when I finished another degree, I got another, degree again gauging my success, by man's success. I thought this was the only way God wanted me successful. I never really sought God about His purpose for me. I was just doing what I thought was right and natural and to be honest it came with much stress and DEBT!
Now there is NOTHING wrong with getting or obtaining degrees or certifications, it's just that God doesn't NEED it for your success. God called you, and He qualifies you. He showed me later His purpose for me, was built on what He saw as successful, His plans and purpose for Me. My God, I am grateful for grace and the fact that ALL THINGS (even my mistakes) work for my good (see Romans 8:28).
My degree's compliment the plan, not complete the plan! Whoo! Can I say that again? My degree's compliment the plan, not complete the plan. So when God and I began to start our adventure together, I began to realize HIS plan, is the master plan, and unless I surrender to it, I will always look for something external to "complete" me. When God from the beginning of time ALREADY made me complete, I just have to walk it out until eternity. Which more than anything requires faith (see Hebrews 11:6), not things....the rest of it is really about His TIMING.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 - He hath made every [thing] beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.
Complete in God,
