A Man of His Word!

Dear Friends,

Have you ever had someone say to you, “you can take me at my word.” In American English, “that mean you could take someone’s words literally or seriously, and often they would act accordingly. Well, I remember when I was younger, my mom went to purchase something from someone, she gave them the money, but they never came back with her stuff. They didn't keep their word! We giggled as kids about that situation, but looking back I, knew it was a place of frustration for her. Unconsciously, those moments shape the validity of us trusting people at their word. If we aren’t careful, those situations will impact how we trust God. Although, man may falter on their word to us, God never falters. Be encouraged today that our God, is nothing like man. Can someone say, HALLELUJUAH!!!!

It brings to remembrance a story about Balak. Balak intentions when he brought Balaam to Aram was for Balaam to speak a curse on Jacob, and to condemn Israel. However, Balaam retreated after He made sacrifices, and began to hear from God in regards to Jacob. He opened his mouth and began to bless Jacob, and Israel instead of cursing them. To Balak’s frustration, he confronted Balaam, but Balaam reminded him that he had a mandate to only speak what God told him. (See Numbers 23:1-12 for the full details of this story.) Let’s pick up in Numbers 23:19, this is the truth that I want to share, confirming that we can take God at his word.

Numbers 23:19 (AMPC) “God is not a man, that He should tell or act a lie, neither the son of man, that He should feel repentance or compunction [for what He has promised]. Has He said and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken and shall He no make good?

Every word God has spoken, He will make good on. I know these words are easier to cling to when there is nothing but smooth sailing ahead. However, we need to hold fast (cling to) this truth when the storms of life are raging all around us. There will be cloudy skies, the winds of life will blow, and storms will rage. That is the time to anchor ourselves down in the truth, and say, “I can take God at his Word”! Our emotions may be screaming loud, “God where are you?” However, we choose to scream louder and say, “we choose to believe that all of God’s promises are yes and yes for every area of our lives! There was song that said, “Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus and to take him at his word. Just to rest upon his promise and to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”

Daily taking Him at His word,

Chanda Rose
