My Mind is Set

Dear Friends,

5 Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities. 6 For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.7 In fact, the mind-set focused on the flesh fights God’s plan and refuses to submit to his direction,[b] because it cannot! 8 For no matter how hard they try, God finds no pleasure with those who are controlled by the flesh. 9 But when the Spirit of Christ empowers your life, you are not dominated by the flesh but by the Spirit. And if you are not joined to the Spirit of the Anointed One, you are not of him.10 Now Christ lives his life in you! And even though your body may be dead because of the effects of sin, his life-giving Spirit imparts life to you because you are fully accepted by God.[e] 11 Yes, God raised Jesus to life! And since God’s Spirit of Resurrection lives in you, he will also raise your dying body to life by the same Spirit that breathes life into you!”- Romans 8:5-11 TPT

God’s word makes it clear that evil is always right there, but the Word of God, makes it MORE clear that we belong to Jesus, and the SPIRIT of God is within us. This assures that even in the very presence of evil, THE Spirit of God is at work giving us life and transforming our hearts, minds, and souls to live for God. That is blessed assurance. Our God does not just save us, and then leave us to figure out the rest on our own. His Spirit is working in us and for us, so that we become dead to sin and come alive in God. But we have part to play, we just can’t sit back, we must participate by yielding to the Holy Spirit at work in us.

Where do we start? Paul, tells us in verse 6, that it is in our “mindset.” You have heard the saying, “Where the mind goes the body follows!” So, if we have a desire for our lives to reflect Christ, then we must pay attention to where we set our minds. How do we do this? By taking time to read and mediate on God’s word. By feeding on the scriptures of God’s word, and praying daily, our minds will begin to reset and align with Christ. Today and everyday lets choose to set our minds on Christ.

Prayer: Holy Spirit it is our desire to set our minds on what you desire for us. We welcome your presence, come dwell in us, and do a work in us. So that our focus aligns with the Kingdom of God. In Jesus name. Amen.
