Magnify the Lord with Me

Dear Friends,

Psalm 34:3 “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”

What does it mean to magnify? In the Webster 1828 Dictionary it is defined as:

MAGNIFY, verb transitive [Latin magnifico; magnus, great, and facio, to make.]

1. To make great or greater; to increase the apparent dimensions of a body.

2. To make great in representation; to extol; to exalt in description or praise..

3. To extol; to exalt; to elevate; to raise in estimation.

When we magnify God, we take on a posture of worship, that allows us to take our minds off ourselves, and set our affections on God. We elevate Him higher, we put emphasis on His goodness, His mercy, His kindness, His longsuffering, His patience, and His love. We say that God you are in charge; God, you are greater; God, you are in control; God, you are lifted high; and God, you are worthy and we extol you in the heaven and in the earth.

There is a song that says, “Oh magnify the Lord with me. Let us exalt his name together. For the He is great, and He is worthy to be praised.” The more we focus on things above, the more encouraged we will be in the down here. Put a song in your mouth, and praise in your heart today, and let’s magnify our God. Psalm 69:30, “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.”

Let God Be Magnified,

Chanda Rose
