Don't Worry, Be Happy

Dear Friend,

As I sat outside and watched my two year spin freely in the grass singing the word “Happy”...I paused to soak in the moment. She reminded me in an instant about what carefree and worry free really looked like. Her calm and joyful disposition expressed the fact that she knew everything was ok! And even if something was going around her she set her focus on “happy!” The smile on her face, the song from her lips, and the pep in her step validated every beat of her love filled heart. If she was only two and can live like this then there’s no excuse why adults can’t be this way consistently too!

It all boils down to a choice. What are we focused on today or better yet right now in this moment?

  1. Colossians 3:2 | Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

  2. Philippians 4:6-8| Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

God created our minds to focus on one thing at a time. So we can’t really ever say, “I can’t focus!” The more accurate response would be “I’m struggling to set my focus on the right thing!” Line your thoughts up with the truth found in the Word. If it doesn’t match the Word, it’s not your thought because we have the mind of Christ. Therefore...dismiss it because you don’t have to accept it!

The Holy Spirit is here to help us with every step of our journey. Let’s ask Him to help us stay focused on the Word, and remain disciplined to think about what we are thinking about moment by moment. It takes work and an intentional effort. But nothing is impossible with God! (see Matthew 19:26)

Besides life’s too short to live stressed when you’re JessBlessed!
