Inner Glow by LMJ
Dear Friends,
Have you ever met someone and they just seemed to be contagious? You couldn’t figure out why? But they were overwhelming contagious, like you loved them instantly. They were warm and they felt good and it was something about them that made you feel at peace. Even if you wanted to find something bad about them it was hard to do that. It doesn’t mean that there wasn’t anything wrong with them, but their personality or their aura, just made you feel good. It seemed like every time they came around, you felt better. Whatever they had, you wanted it, whatever was going on with them you knew you needed to connect to it. That “it” was changing your world and gave you a different perspective about life, that it was the “light”.
Matthew 5: 14-16 ““You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
John 8: 12, “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
John 1: 5, “The light shines in darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.”
There was a movie, “The Last Dragon”, I used to love to watch growing up. There was a young African American man fascinated with martial arts. He was in search of this internal power, this light. His personality was overwhelmingly sweet and kind, and no matter how or what someone tried to do to him, they couldn’t taint it. At the end of the movie as he is fighting the villain, he begins to glow brightly. Everyone was in shock to see his glow. His internal glow manifested externally, and he is able to beat the villain.
The same should exists for us as Christians if we are going to impact this world, the internal light is us should change everyone we come in contact with. The light of Christ, overcomes sin, it overcomes darkness, overcomes sadness, depression, worry and doubt. The light of Christ can overcome anything. Because it is perfect and as love, it can cast out anything. In Matthew 5, Christ is giving us instructions on how to go out into the world and to be His disciples. He didn’t suggest or say we could act like salt and light, He told us, this is what we were to be to the world. We were to be flavorful and we should shed light into a dark area. It’s ok to shine brightly for God, we don’t have to minimize ourselves or water ourselves down at all, as a matter of fact He gets the ultimate glory out of our life, when we let our light shine.
